Try to avoid travel agency, just buy air tickets and book hotels on your own. Remember the important sightseeings, go to destinations by subway or taxi.
Most educated young people can speak some English. You should speak english slowly and simply.

Well if you are going to Hong Kong dont forget to go the the Disney Park its one of the best attractions... and if you are planning to go to China from there most of the places like Ganzau etc does not require visa if traveling from Hong Kong.... Macau which is near Hong Kong is best if you are interested in gambling... With regards to travel agents just shop around at Kawloon for the best deal

1st you have to apply for Visa to go to China, it's quite easy and fast to get it, or you can ask your travel agency to apply it for you. A lot of travel agencies in Hong Kong offer cheap tour package and vary destinations (Beijing, Shanghai, shenzen etc). I don't know which one is the cheapest one but you can search on internet for cheap travel agencies in Hong Kong.
Famous, beautiful and full of Chinese presence places are Hangzhou and Suzhou. I have never been there before. But since I was a kid, I was hearing about them. There's a axiom saying Up there goes Heaven, down goes Suzhou and Hangzhou.
I don't know what exactly you are looking for.
Get the People's Daily and get all the info you need from there.

Hi, I've been to Hongkong, but most recent to Shanghai, the tour will be similar though, should you decided to join a group tour, they will bring you to a jewelry store (JC), to a Tea Store and Jade Store. Key to buying is to haggle, negotiate and really do hard bargains. The prices initially quoted could go below 50% just to give you an idea.
